The Portuguese Pool Professionals Association (APP) has announced the appointment of João Couchinho, Managing Director of Fluidra Portugal, as the new President of the association. The announcement was made in Lisbon on 5 January 2026.
A new leadership phase for the Portuguese pool sector
This appointment marks the beginning of a new phase for APP's leadership, reflecting the association's ambition to support the sustainable development of the swimming pool sector in Portugal while strengthening its presence at both European and international levels.
With extensive experience in the industry, João Couchinho currently leads Fluidra Portugal, one of the leading companies in the swimming pool sector. His professional background and deep knowledge of the market are considered valuable assets for the association and its members.
The new APP Board will continue the work carried out in recent years, with a particular focus on the Portuguese market while fostering international cooperation. In this respect, APP maintains active participation in key industry organisations such as the European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations and the World Assembly of Pool and Spa Associations.

For more than 25 years, APP has worked to represent, support and promote companies and professionals in the Portuguese pool sector. Through dedicated initiatives, the association contributes to structuring and recognising the industry while fostering cooperation between stakeholders at national and international levels.
Over the years, APP has also played a central role in the development, regulation and professionalisation of the swimming pool sector in Portugal. The association is widely recognised for its work in defining standards, supporting the application of legislation and providing technical guidance, making it a key interlocutor for both public and private entities when discussing the future of the industry.
